CYNTHIA RUTLEDGE WORKSHOPS 2/3/4/5 OCTOBER 2008
In association with the Bead Society of Victoria and Jane Tyson in Tasmania, we are priviledged to be able to offer 3 workshops by contemporary American bead artist Cynthia Rutledge in October 2008. The workshop program is chosen to provide an opportunity for beginning, advanced and expert beaders alike and has a rich sample of Ms Rutledge's impressive body of work.
This is the first time a bead artist of Cynthia Rutledge's level will be travelling to Adelaide to provide workshops and we are hoping it will be the start of tempting well known artists and beaders to South Australia in the future.
Registrations are open, please download a registration form (acrobat PDF). A $50 dollar deposit will guarantee your place in the workshop(s). Payment methods are cheque, direct deposit and credit card via Paypal (credit card and Paypal attact a small surcharge to cover cost)
Dates: 2, 3, 4 and 5 October 2008
Class Times: 9 - 5. Detailed workshop agenda will be sent to students 30 days prior to the workshop.
Class Limits: Minimum 8 - maximum 15 students.
Class Fee: $125 for one day, $250 for two day workshop. Class fee includes teachers fee, morning and afternoon tea and coffee, lunch to be provided by the student. Materials costs are not included in the workshop price.
Kits: Kits can be purchased for the workshops directly from Cynthia Rutledge, kit costs vary and are subject to price fluctuations. Process for ordering kits is here.
Materials list will be provided at least 30 days prior to the workshop.
Venue - Payneham Community Center, 374 Payneham Road, Payneham. We have tried to find a venue that was central enough to equalise the travel time for northern and southern beaders!

The program is designed to provide students who wish to participate in both advanced classes a day of rest by scheduling a beginners class between the two advanced workshops. We all know how tiring learning a new techique can be!

Tibetan Bangle
This geometric yet spiritual Tibetan Bangle is constructed from a flat Peyote stitch base with a series of Brick stitch triangles that form four sided pyramid shapes. The bracelet is embellished with semi precious beads and crystals.
Level - advanced, knowledge of peyote and brick stitches highly recommended

Belle Epoque
This striking necklace is created with a combination of right angle weave, netting, brick and herringbone stiches. The body of the necklace is created in Cynthia's signature latice weave style.

Garland of Jewelled Links and Chain
The garland may be made to look royal, earthy or contemporary by the use of different materials and beads. Techniques include 3d peyote with increases and decreases, brick stitch, bezelling and embellishing stitches.
Level - very advanced

How to order kits
Due to the fluctuating pricing of kits, Cynthia and Studio Luna have agreed that kits may be purchased from Cynthia directly. You may either select to have your kit shipped to you or shipped to the Studio with the other workshop kits after which it may be collected or shipped to you.
